You know when you’re flipping through the channels and you come across a TV show, and there’s just something about it you can’t quite put your finger on, but you think, “Oh, this looks Canadian?”
Maybe it’s the pasty actors, maybe it’s the patches of dirty snow, maybe it’s the rapper in the Volvo, but it happens with music videos too.

UPDATE: My holiday special is now available as a podcast for download or on iTunes.  I recommend iTunes because this show has hella chapters.

And since I’m just reblogging myself today, here’s the holiday special I recorded for CBC last year. You can download the entire thing by clicking the links above, or just listen to a pretty great clip right here.

ATTENTION Canadians: If you’ve ever had to explain to your American friends what the Junos are or who Jian Ghomeshi is - you’ll love this graphic.

Oh yeah, this is the greatest - and not just because I made it.

Today we broadcast the 2011 CBC Radio 3 Bucky Awards, celebrating the best in Canadian indie music.  I spent the last month producing the show and I co-hosted a bit of it as well.  It was super fun.

elevators:

This is a phone conversation with CBC Radio’s Stuart Mclean, edited down to just Stuart’s fake stutters.

I don’t know if there’s a point to this. It’s not good to say “uh…” on the radio, so sometimes y- y- you gotta s- stutter. Plus it- it… well, it makes your… speech sound more sentimental and… and heartfelt.
